As I approach my 5th decade in this existence, I am finding numerous things to be true...

*People that were assholes when I was younger are still assholes now that I'm older.

*Being with the same woman for 30 years is awesome.

*The ratio of people who think for themselves to stupid people appears to be the same now as when I was able to first notice it when I was 20.

*It is soooo wonderful to see one's children become adults and they are intelligent, independent, creative, and loving.

*Being a non-standard blockhead of a male annoyed the hell out of people when I was younger. Now that I'm older, it appears even more that society expects me to be some sort of twit with a stick up my ass. Well, I'm not going to apologize. I am still just fine with thumbing my nose at the conventions and expectations that men are supposed to be. If anything, age has set me in my ways even more.

<lj:music>Meat Loaf "Wasted Youth/Everything Louder Than Everything Else"</lj:music>

A bit of background is needed here...

*My Wife is a Registered Nurse. She has all of the traditional nurse's "war stories" about every kind of bodily fluid the human body is capable of emitting. And, all sorts of predicaments that said fluids can appear in.

*My Son's first job was as a Stable Hand at a ranch that uses horses as therapy for children with autism, cancer and other problems. One of his favorite comments is "I can honestly say that I've shoveled horse shit as a job"

So... Yesterday, after dinner, I was zoned out in front of the computer and an energetic conversation between my Wife & my Son drifted into my attention... They were arguing. They were trying to top each other in the grossest thing each of them has had to do in a job. It quickly drifted (deteriorated?) to a bragging match about how much shit & piss they've each had to deal with. The conclusion (at least to my ears) was that my Wife won with the most bizarre situations she's had to face, while my Son won with having to deal with the most volume.

Such is the topic when great minds clash in my household. :-)

I don't like "Twilight."

The books are a badly written first-person attempt at a romance novel, but wind up being unbelievable crap with attempts to justify deviant behavior as normal and that (in the later books) physical abuse is okay. The only redeeming value I see is that readers might be inspired to seek out better written material in a similar genre. While I don't like the author's rewrite of the vampire/werewolf genre, I will support the author for trying something new in this regard. I leave it to the reader if this works for them.

The movie... Is a teen-angst romance movie. The screenwriter actually improves some of the material from the book. My opinion is more "ho-hum", as I'm not drawn in by this kind of film.

'Cause I gotta tell you the truth, folks. When it comes to bullshit, big-time, major league bullshit, you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of false promises and exaggerated claims: religion. No contest. No contest. Religion. Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told.

Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man -- living in the sky -- who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!

But He loves you.

He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good bullshit story. Holy shit!"

I also wanted to be able to converse with assorted people I know there.

Anyway, I updated it today with a User Pic, Favorite-Art pieces, and updated my Personal File.

http://kyo-yamashita.deviantart.com/

Unless I post photos to my Gallery, I doubt I'll ever have any art there.
